Contracts, vendor proposals, payer correspondence, compliance updates. They’re long, dense, and it’s hard to know what deserves your attention first.

The Pile Of Documents Nobody Has Time To Read

Every specialty practice has a version of this stack: a vendor contract renewal, a prior authorization policy update, a new compliance requirement from a payer, a lease amendment. Whether you’re running an ENT practice, a dermatology group, or a surgical center, the documents pile up faster than anyone has time to actually read them closely.

AI won’t replace the judgment call on what to do about any of it, but it’s very good at telling you what’s actually in a document before you spend real time on it.

The Prompt To Copy And Paste

This week’s tip: paste a long document into ChatGPT or a similar tool and use this prompt:

“Summarize the key points of this document in plain English. Flag anything I should pay close attention to, anything unusual, or anything that requires a decision from me. [Paste document text here]”

Before You Paste Anything In

Before you paste anything in: remove confidential customer, employee, financial, medical, or legal information, unless your practice has approved that AI tool for that kind of data.

This matters more for a specialty healthcare practice than almost any other business. Treatment details, patient identifiers, and financial terms don’t belong in a public AI tool unless your practice has specifically vetted and approved it for that purpose.

What You Get Back

You’ll get a clear summary in seconds. It doesn’t replace a lawyer or a professional review for high-stakes documents, but it gives you a fast working understanding before you spend real time on the details.

This works for emails, reports, policy updates, and meeting notes too.

Try It This Week

  • Pick one document sitting in your inbox that you’ve been putting off reading closely
  • Strip out anything confidential first
  • Run it through the prompt above
  • Use the summary to decide what actually needs a closer look, and what doesn’t
