Staff Highlight June 2021

Get to know The Solutions Team’s Travis Thelen – Senior Help Desk Technician

How did you find out about TST?

I learned of The Solutions Team through a family member, who knew our CEO, Todd Gooden.  I had been in the hospitality business for several years in a management role for one of our local Chik-Fil-A locations, but have always had a passion for IT.  I enjoy coding and have actually built my own computer – and knew I eventually wanted to work in the tech field.  I was blessed to have the opportunity to come on board with TST in August of 2019.

What do you do at TST?

Our company has a stellar track record for service availability and responsiveness so the bar is high each and every day.  I handle general support tickets that come in, and work to solve issues for our clients whether personally or in collaboration with my fellow tech colleagues – particularly where fluency in dental practice software (one of my specialties) is concerned. I am also responsible for facilitating and maintaining all clients data back-ups.

What convinced you that TST was the place to launch your career in IT?

Several factors came in to play…for one the company is established having been in business since 2007 – and has a strong reputation in the industry.  Secondly, we’re national in scope – serving clients in 40 states. Our management team has always had a knack for thinking out of the box to create and implement innovative and unique solutions to helping clients succeed.  Most recently for example, we launched our ‘performance-based’ billing model that has really helped clients increase their productivity and reduce their expenses.

What do you like most about working at TST?

> The people are great.  Everyone is super-talented and outstanding at what they do – but at the same time we have our share of fun working together and everyone supports and encourages one another.

> Our unofficial company mascot “Beau” a golden retriever is a fixture around the office – and so laid back and friendly.  Every once in a while I’ll bring my dog Chewbacca to the office to say hello to everyone.

> I consume a large Slurpee every day – my guilty pleasure – and the running joke is someone will occasionally attempt to “steal” it from me – at which point I throw out a Gollum phrase and say “I must protect My Precious!”
