North MS Oral Case Study

THE CUSTOMER
With three locations, North Mississippi Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Associates (NMOMSA) offers
full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and
wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. The practice also offers techniques to rebuild bone
structure with minimal surgical intervention, and can diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries,
and fractures.


THE CHALLENGE
NMOMSA has been a leading provider of maxillofacial care in north Mississippi for a half century.
The practice was founded in Tupelo in 1972 and has added locations in Corinth (1994) and Southaven
(2004). According to Administrator, Karen Costello, the practice had for years been using a local IT
consultant to handle their needs. However, he had a full-time job with a local hospital and was only
available to help by phone or text during the day – or in-person after office hours or on weekends.
As NMOMSA continued to grow, problems with the practice’s imaging software, Carestream, became
more frequent. With their IT consultant unavailable during business hours, it was up to Karen to solve
the problems. She was spending most of her day on-hold waiting for Carestream tech support to pick
up the phone instead of managing the practice. It was time to switch to a full-time, full-service IT firm
capable of meeting NMOMSA’s growing needs, including working with Carestream support when
issues arose.


THE SOLUTION
As luck would have it…one fateful day earlier this year, Karen did something unusual. She answered
